|Organised cricket has been played on the island since 2005 under the newly formed Phuket Cricket Union, for recognition as a Demonstration Sport by the Cricket Authority of Thailand the name was changed to Phuket Cricket Group. For several years now the PCG and CAT have worked to develop Thai Youth Cricket in a number of Government Schools.
Youth development received a big boost with the availability early this year of the ACG ground.
The concept of a dedicated cricket ground was conceived by Alan in early 2005, land was acquired, and an initial start made.
Further progress beyond plot clearance was delayed until late 2010.
Early in 2011 an ACG Construction Team, comprising Mark Ashman, Anthony van Blerk, Martin Foster, Stuart Reading was formed each bringing their particular skill and expertise to the Project.
The ACG Project has been very much a community effort, project management, architectural fees, legal fees, QS, electrical, structural engineering services, all provided at NO COST.
Significant donations by two Phuket cricket enthusiasts, Dave Roberts and Keith Brooks, allowed the clubhouse to be completed to a higher standard.
